Welcome to theblueschannel.com

Welcome to the blog for theblueschannel.com

Well it is a week since we completed the blues channel web architecture and now we are begining the task of creating the programming. The plan is really quite simple, we will set about attracting film and video material for the site whilst also creating our own. I have been chatting to various clubs and bands from all over the world and the response so far has been a bit guarded. Natural enough I suppose, if something new comes along into a field already rich in history and tradition then uncertainty is to be expected. I have been used to that over a lifetime of rowing my own boat in my own peculiar way so excuse me if I just keep pulling at the oars.
We are probably going to make our first expedition "In Search of Blues Clubs in Japan". What we are looking for is getting to the roots of blues popularity around the world. Surely purists may question the value of such an excercise and there are questions to be raised about cultural appropriation but it's the music and the people who play it that we are after and we'll leave the intellectual debates to those who like their blues as PhDs! Will be posting our progress on this blog from here, via Japan, into next year with the aim of having a full program list by February. Kishti, Jack.

Thanks jama, we will be loading material over the next few months and the advertisers are all coming on board so by the end of February the blues channel should be really kicking. By the way, read your blog, the rules. You are pushing it a bit with that one but I laughed my socks off. Don't suppose many others will get your sense of humour though.
take care, love from
all of us in the studio
